Historic Landmark No. 1164 Community Uptown Designated December 4, 2014 |
Famed ballet dancers Nancy Johnson and Richard Carter qualify as historically significant persons for their important contributions to the performing arts in San Diego. Johnson and Carter founded and directed the original San Diego Ballet, the city’ s first professional ballet company. The high state of preservation of the cobblestone walkway passing across this lot and the neighboring lot to the south and the cobblestone buttressed terraces and walkways terraced down the canyon behind this house are rare and significant landscape features that contribute to a complete understanding of the Arts & Crafts Movement in the greater Mission Hills/Middletown community. |
